Manuscript Policy

Portuguese Literary & Cultural Studies (PLCS) welcomes submission of original and unpublished manuscripts in English, Portuguese, or Spanish appropriate to the goals of the journal. Manuscripts should be in accordance with the MLA Style Manual and Guide to Scholarly Publishing (latest version) with parenthetical documentation and a list of Works Cited. The author is responsible for the accuracy of all quotations, titles, names, and dates.  Font and sizes as close as possible to the style of the previous issue of PLCS should be used throughout the text. All of the information must be in the same language (e.g., abstract, body of the article, bio-blurb).

Specific guidelines for submission of manuscripts to PLCS:

Articles (e-mail us around 6000 words in a single Word file):

1.  Title of the article;
2.  Article's author name;
3.  Abstract (around 100 words);
4.  Body of the article;
5.  Notes;
6.  Works Cited;
7.  Bio-blurb (written in the third person) including, i,  institutional affiliation; ii, no more than three publications; iii, current research; iv, e-mail.

Short articles (e-mail us around 3000 words in a single MS Word file):

1.  Title of the article;
2.  Article's author name;
3.  Abstract (around 100 words);
4.  Body of the article;
5.  Notes;
6.  Works Cited;
7.  Bio-blurb (written in the third person) including, i,  institutional affiliation; ii, no more than three publications; iii, current research; iv, e-mail.

Review-essay (e-mail us 2000 words in a single MS Word file):

1.  Title of the review-essay;
2.  Reference of the work reviewed (including author's name, title, place of publication, publisher, and date);
3.  Review's author name;
4.  Body of the review-essay;
5.  Notes;
6.  Works Cited;
7.  Bio-blurb (written in the third person) including, i,  institutional affiliation; ii, no more than three publications; iii, current research; iv, e-mail.

Review (e-mail us 800 words in a single MS Word file):

1.  Reference of the work reviewed (including author's name, place of publication, publisher, and date);
2.  Review's author name;
3.  Body of the review;
4.  Bio-blurb (written in the third person) including, i,  institutional affiliation; ii, no more than three publications; iii, current research; iv, e-mail.
